Sackett

A Tribute to a Non-pug
We had Sackett for about ten years. He was fourteen when we lost him this summer. He was the happiest, sweetest-natured little guy we’ve ever known. We came by him when he began getting loose from his home next door to us, and would come see us and spend the day stretched out on our lawn, then stretch and yawn when we’d get home from work, come to greet us like he was ours. Finally the neighbors said we could have him if we wanted! No problem there and we loved him to pieces and enjoyed many wonderful years. He howled for cookies and groaned in joy at tummy rubs. He was a true buddy.

Paula
Our Pug Angel Paula got her wings on March 18, 2005. Her spirit is one that will remain with us forever. We knew she was deaf when we adopted her from CPR, but we soon learned that she heard joy, laughter and sadness with her heart, not her ears. She showed us that sheer willpower can overcome any physical problem after slipping a disk in her back and becoming paralyzed. (We wrote about her in CPR’s Newsletter a few years back). After a few months in a canine wheelchair she managed to stand, then walk, and finally was able to run and play again, even though our vet found no real sensation in her back legs. Cataracts claimed most of her eyesight a year ago, but somehow she knew where Mom, Dad, and her new pug brother, (another CPR baby), Bubba where. If not, she had a special call for her mom. She had been able to overcome so much adversity, and her heart was so full of goodness that, finally, it just couldn’t go on. She had completed her job here, and it was time for her to go.
I heard her bark today as I tried to write this through my tears. It was her bark that always said “I’m here”. We know she’s now whole again – with all working parts! We were so blessed to have her!
We’ll always love you, Miss Paula Poo!

Ryu
2005
Ryu was relinquished to CPR. He was only with Gary and me for a few short hours, but his sweet spirit touched both of us deeply. Ryu touched everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed by many, and he was loved by all of us that knew him. Ryu was only 11 months old.
