Jeff & Smutt
- Males, age five years
- Housetrained; crate trained
- Good with cats and other dogs
- Good with older kids
- Must stay together
Jeff and Smutt are a bonded pair that came into the rescue because of their owner’s serious illness. Jeff is a ball of energy who sleeps with one eye open, always ready to play. He is working on not jumping up and does know how to sit. Smutt, on the other hand, came to us severely obese. He has bursts of energy but also likes heavy doses of relaxation time. Since coming into rescue, Smutt has lost a couple of pounds, and his endurance on walks is much improved. However, he has more weight to lose and will need to remain on a strict diet.
Jeff and Smutt both love running in the nearby field, regular walks, lots of attention, cuddling together, and fresh vegetables as treats. Though both dogs are very good natured, Jeff would probably be better with no small children due to his jumping on people.
If you’re looking for two expressive, affectionate pugs, Jeff and Smutt would be a great addition to your family.
Mushu
- Male, age ten years
- Crate trained
- Good with kids
- Good with other dogs, cats, and all other pets
- Special needs – growth on eye surface will have to be watched for increased size
Mushu is a handsome, sweet, loving little guy who is 10 years young. He spent all of his 10 years with one family until they became too ill to care for him. While they were devastated to give him up, they knew they couldn’t give him the life he deserved.
Mushu has a crate that he stays in when we are gone. He loves to have a treat and then “kennel up”! When we are at home, he is a velcro dog. He wants to be where we are, preferably curled up next to us. He also loves to curl up in bed with us and stay all night! Toys are a must for him – small balls, tug of war, etc., are things he loves to play with. He does great with other dogs, kids, cats, neighbors, guinea pigs… You name it, he loves it! Due to the transitions he has been through, he will probably need to be on leash in the house until he gets the “lay of the land.” Two or three weeks of this supervision will curb any thoughts he might have about marking.
Mushu has one health concern. There is a swelling or growth on the surface of one eye. This has been evaluated by an eye specialist, who determined Mushu’s vision is not affected and he is not in any pain. The growth will have to be watched and reexamined if it becomes larger. If treatment is required later, it would be done with one or more of several different ointments, using the least amount of medication necessary to control the inflammation.
Mushu is a fantastic dog, and we, his foster family, will be sad to see him go.
Lucky
Lucky is a GREAT dog! He is thirteen years old and very loving and playful for his age. Lucky enjoys other dogs but loves nothing more than his teddy bear. Lucky struggles with occasional seizures, eye ulcers, & cataracts. Lucky came to CPR in November 2010 after his family lost their home due to foreclosure.
