Parker
- Male, age 8 years
- Housebroken
- Special Needs: will need eye drops, partially blind, and hard of hearing
- Adoption Fee: $300
Hi, my name is Parker. I grew up in Parker, which is how I got my name. My former family had small children, and I loved them very much, but they developed allergies and had to let me go. They didn’t have enough time to care for me properly, and as a result I am a bit overweight. I have a little trouble walking, which will likely improve as I drop some lbs., and I take glucosamine for my joints. I am just getting over an ear infection, and my hearing is not great. Unfortunately, I am mostly blind in one eye and partially blind in the other. I will need eye drops and eye ointment for the rest of my life, but I tolerate my meds well. Once I learn my environment, I get around just fine. I am 8 yrs old, and I believe in conservation of energy. I prefer to be wherever the humans are, especially if that is the sofa or the bed. I play a little bit with my foster-sister, but mostly I like to lie around and chew on my mummy. I like cats too. I am house-broken and I use the doggy door like an old pro. I am so sweet that my foster-mom calls me a big sack of sugar. I need a forever home where I can get lots of affection and some regular exercise. I just want to be loved. Wanna snuggle?

Pugsley
- Male, age 6 years
- Adoption Fee: $300
Pugsley is an adorable and an approximately 6 year old neutered male pug. He is super duper friendly and loves to be around humans and animals. He would definitely do best as an addition to a family of humans or pets because he does not like to be left alone. He doesn’t have chronic health problems although he is a little overweight and had ear infections in both ears when he came into care. The reason he came into foster care was because his previous owner became very ill and had to go to hospice. He had two little brothers who were turned over to a shelter. Pugsley is an active boy and can go for long walks or wrestle with other dogs. He has a big personality and is very lovable.

Perla
- Female, age 5 months, 19.5 lb.
- Housetrained
- Unsure about kids
- Good with cats and dogs
- Pug mix -possibly Pug/Chihuahua mix
Hi, I’m Perla, my foster mom calls me Pixie Lou because she says I’m to cute too be a Perla.
I was turned in as a stray in to the Arizona Humane Society in Payson AZ in June. My brother and I were brought to Colorado Pug Rescue because they thought we would have a better chance of finding a forever home. I arrived in Colorado one sick little girl, some sort of infection, my doctor and foster parents nursed me back to health and you would never know I was sick a day in my life!
I’m a smartie, I usually know to come when called and to sit, perfection is still in the works. My foster mom says that I’m losing my baby teeth so I bite and chew, it makes my gums feel better. Once I get these baby’s out I’ll stop all that and be great ‘cuz I’m a lover and cuddlier. Every night foster mom and I lay on the couch she reads some silly book and I cuddle up with her, that’s my favorite thing. I sleep and travel in my crate, I get nervous in the car but foster mom says I’m MUCH better then I use to be, she says sometimes puppies are like that.
I love my foster brother and other dogs. Once we meet and greet, its game on. I’m good with cats but prefer dogs. I’m housetrained.
I could be your shadow and don’t like to be alone, I’d love a brother or sister. I love sunbathing and enjoy being both inside and out but mostly I love being with you. Everyone who meets me loves me, come meet me.
Gizmo
- Male, age 5 years
- Pending vet care and evaluation
Meet Gizmo! He is a lovable 4-year-old bundle of energy who is searching for a life long companion. He is a very social dog who gets along well with cats and loves to play with other dogs. He is very talkative and will let you know what he does or does not want. He is very active and loves to go on walks around the neighborhood and play with his toys at home. He is also crate trained and housebroken. However, Gizmo will need time, structure, attention, and routine to keep him from marking his territory when he adjusts to a new or unfamiliar environment. Overall, he is just the sweetest guy around and needs a family who will give him the love, patience, and attention he deserves.

- Chug – Pug/Chihuahua mix
Hi! I am Ricky, the Chug formerly known as Yodel. I have long legs, a curly tail and floppy ears. I love people and kids. I am good with dogs and will even play with a friendly cat. I am a puppy so I am learning lots of things. I am almost housetrained and know basic commands. As I am still a puppy, I have a bit of naughty in me…I take great joy in shredding tissues and papers. I have also mastered the art of climbing a baby gate. I am eager to find that special home that will take me on walks, teach me knew things, and be patient as I learn how to be a good boy. I can’t wait to meet my new forever family!
All the best, Ricky
Tapanga & Bowser
Tapanga and Bowser came to Colorado Pug Rescue back in 2010 because their owner could no longer keep them. They have been a couple their whole lives and they are just the cutest pair. They always have to know where the other is and are so very loving toward each other. Tapanga likes to spoon Bowser and rest her back leg over his hip. Tapanga is now 14yrs young and Bowser is 13yrs young. Their forever family never came along and their health is starting to become an issue for them so their foster mommy has decided to become their forever foster mommy until it is their time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Colorado Pug Rescue will continue to pay for their medical needs. They are both deaf but that doesn’t slow them down from wanting to go to the dog park and be the great pugs that they are. They love to snuggle with their foster mommy and her 5 pugs on the giant sectional. Tapanga gets very excited when the cat comes her way. She thinks he is just the coolest and smells wonderful. Bowser is a quiet guy except for when mom comes home from work. He barks with excitement and joy that she is home. They both just recently had their second teeth cleaning since coming to CPR and also had to have some tumors removed. Bowser had 2 removed and they were both benign. Tapanga had 11 removed and three of them were Mast Cell tumors so the doc has put her on a medicine that has been proven to help keep those nasty tumors from coming back. However it is pretty expensive and costs CPR $100 per month. They both suffer from old “Arthur” so they have to be carried up and down the stairs. CPR supplies them with Cosequin which is the best joint supplement on the market. This helps them be able to go to the dog park and enjoy life without pain. Bowser has it worse than Tapanga so he also takes a mild painkiller twice per day to ensure he is not suffering. They are very happy and well taken care of because of Colorado Pug Rescue, Animal Health Care Specialist, their foster mommy, and all the other volunteers that make it possible. CPR relies greatly on donations to be able to continue to care for pugs in need. Please make a donation in honor of Tapanga and Bowser. Thanks so much!!
Hannah & Beau
Beau and Hanna are 13 years old and might be siblings. They were relinquished from a shelter, so not much is known about them.
Beau is super sweet and mellow and has no teeth, but as you can see, he is a big jolly boy.
Hanna is the friendliest happiest girl you’ll ever know. She does struggle with incontinence and has arthritis in her hips
Matilda
- Female, age ten years
- 10 lb.
- Housetrained
- Best as only pet
- Special needs – daily arthritis medicine; no stairs
In this corner, weighing in at ten pounds, wearing the fawn coat, at the ripe old age of ten, Matilda B. Darling.
Don’t let her looks fool ya’; this small package is loaded with personality and even more spice. It could be her age. It could be her former life, which remains a mystery, as she came to us from a shelter. Whatever it is, this little mama demands your attention and will keep you entertained for hours!
It seems maybe a spot of dementia can sum up her tendency to be a bit grouchy. She loves all humans but will certainly let you know when she wants space, especially while she’s eating. It’s probably for the best that she be an only puggy, as she can get randomly possessive and confused and will get after her competition. It’s really humorous more than anything, as she has no teeth and is too little to even scare other dogs.
Along with being grumpy sometimes, she has some pretty severe arthritis in her hind legs, making her incapable of climbing any stairs, though she will step down just one stair. She also needs your help to cuddle with you gingerly in your bed or on the couch, although she will stay in her bed or on the floor. She just loves to be held like a baby on her back; we think it makes her legs feel better.
Matilda is adorable despite her grumpiness and seemingly random fits of jealous humorous rage. We cannot recommend children or cats, as we could not guarantee she wouldn’t be jealous or dominant. She has no known health concerns other than her once daily dose of Cosequin for her joints. She is housetrained and well behaved, with no chewing, anxiety or other behaviors that require you to be home all the time.
Oh yeah, we believe she has anteater ancestry because of her freakishly long tongue that she displays… all… the… time. We hope you can give this sweetie baby angel as much love as she deserves and enjoy her grouchy tendencies as much as we do.
Buddha
- Male, age six years
- Housetrained; uses doggy door.
- Good with kids over 12
- Good with other dogs
Hello! My name is Buddha. I was relinquished to Colorado Pug Rescue by my elderly owner whom couldn’t care for me anymore. I am very sweet and loving and want nothing more than to be my forever parents’ shadow. I am housetrained and will go to the door and let you know when I have to go out. I’m also able to use a doggie door. I should mention I’m not real comfortable being picked up and held but will gladly jump up next to you on the couch to be loved and give love. I’m great with dogs but have never been around cats. I would prefer a home with no young children. Older children 12 and up would be awesome.
If you want to be my forever home, please ask for me on your application.
Hercules & Yoda
Hercules (13 yrs – right) and Yoda (12 yrs – center) came to Colorado Pug Rescue because our owners had decided to put them to sleep because of their medical issues. Luckily, a kind-hearted soul at the shelter contacted CPR and asked them to help us before it was too late. CPR was literally a life saver!
Hercules went blind when he was very young. Hercules has adjusted quite well because he has been blind almost all of his life. Yoda went blind a few years ago, most likely from diabetes. Due to his diabetes, Yoda gets daily insulin injections and he eats a special food.
Hercules and Yoda are pretty attached and are enjoying spending their golden years together. The third musketeer (left) in the photo is their foster sister Peanut.
Bubba
- Male, age ten years
- Housetrained; can use doggy door
- Crate trained
- Good with cats and small dogs
- Special needs – blind and diabetic
Hey! Bubba, here. I’d like to tell you a little about me, but first let’s get that 300-pound gorilla out of the way. I’m blind. I have no eyes. There. That’s better. Despite no eyes, I have a lot of expressions. I’m silky soft and very cuddly.
I am going through Colorado Pug Rescue for the second time. My human dad died a few months ago, and he left me to CPR. My foster mom used to visit Dad and me, so I’m not scared. Actually she says I’m fearless and a happy boy. I jump up and down from the sofa. My foster moms gave me a lamb’s wool chew toy, and I carry him around. I bring him up on the sofa with me and chew on him. They think it’s funny. I sure like my “man”. I’m not destructive, though.
I go outside to do my business, but it’s helpful to keep me on a schedule and make sure I get outside a few times a day. Dad kept the door open, so I’m used to going out anytime I wanted. I can do a doggie door; just be patient with me as I learn where things are. I’m not crazy about being crated while you’re at work, but eventually I’ll settle down and sleep until you get home.
One of the cats seems to have adopted me and rubs his head against mine at bedtime. I do just fine with cats and other small dogs.
I like to sleep with my people. I sleep all night. Just rub my chest, and I’ll start snoring in a minute or two. I get restless in the very early morning if I need to go outside but will go right back to sleep if you let me have a few minutes outside.
I’m diabetic. I need an insulin shot and breakfast or dinner at 8:00, am and pm, so you should be someone who can handle my schedule. The shot is incredibly easy. We could adjust the time over a period of weeks if you had to, but I need the shot and food 12 hours apart. You will want to make sure I don’t get into anyone else’s food and just eat mine. I don’t get treats, just hugs and rubs and lots of TLC. My current bottle of insulin is only half empty after three months. You can get my insulin and syringes at Walmart without a prescription. The cost is $25 for the insulin. For 100 syringes, it’s about $14 and lasts about 50 days. I do need my blood glucose to be checked occasionally. Everyone at Animal Health Care Specialists thinks I’m just the cutest guy. They all have to greet me and rub my head. I really like Dr. Schulman.
So, here I am. If you think you could give me a forever home, we should meet. Really, I’m an easy guy to like, and I adapt quickly. That’s B-U-B-B-A. I’m the diabetic one. Hope we can connect soon!
