  • Male, 5 years old
  • Housebroken
  • Good with dogs, cats, and older children
  • Special Needs: Allergies, prescribed Atopica pills. Has special shampoo and needs weekly baths.
  • Adoption fee: $300
This sweet boy is looking for his loving forever home.  His prior owner had health issues and was no longer able to take care of him. Dexter is a tall, skinny, agile 5 year old boy.  He has a lot of energy and ideally he needs at least a 15 minute walk every day.  He is free spirited and very loving.  He is housebroken. He does have allergies and is prescribed Atopica pills for this issue.  He also has special shampoo and should be bathed once a week. Dexter is accustomed to sleeping in bed with his owners.  He likes to burrow under the covers and he does not snore. He has had obedience training and knows “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “hold”, “halt”.  He does respond to “come” but sometimes not immediately.  He is very well behaved in the car.
Dexter has a voracious appetite.  He is on a grain free diet and is aggressive with taking food from your hand.  He also likes to jump up on people. I would not recommend him with small children for these reasons.  He is good with cats and other pets.

  • Housebroken
  • Good with dogs, cats, and kids
  • Special Needs: Daily eye moisture drops and daily Dasaquin for joints
  • Special Skill: THE ULTIMATE CUDDLE PUG
  • Adoption fee: $100
Meet Pi. She is around 8yrs old and a whopping 14lbs! She has a BIG personality and a BIG need for her humans for such a petite little pumpkin. She is perfectly happy as long as she can see you but if you leave her sight and she knows you are still within earshot, she will serenade you until you come back. If allowed, she will just follow you everywhere. She loves to be held like a baby and have her tummy rubbed. I call her my “Gumby foster pug” because she is so flexible and easy going. Pi is potty trained and gets along great with cats, kids, and other dogs. She would do great as your only Pug if you are home a lot. If you are not, then she would need a companion dog to keep her company. Pi cannot see out of her left eye due to a cataract but she sees just fine out of the other. Her hearing is not the greatest but she is not deaf. Pi is current on her shots, still has plenty of teeth after her recent dental cleaning, and the doc says her lungs and heart sound good. X-rays showed that Pi has some arthritis in her back and has Intervertebral Disc Disease. Both are very common in smaller breeds such as Pugs. This causes Pi to drag her feet when she walks and limits her ability to use stairs. She can handle a couple of stairs as long as they are not too tall. Fortunately, she is light enough to just scoop up and carry her if you have stairs. She is not in any pain and it doesn’t stop her from cruising the yard and being on your heels. She started showing signs about 6 months ago and has not gotten worse so the doc says that is a positive. It is a degenerative disease but with daily joint chewy, daily limited exercise, good food, keeping her trim, lots of love, and a couple trips to the vet a year, she will have plenty of years for you to spoil her. Pi’s ideal family would have lots of carpet or lots of area rugs to cruise around on and must also welcome her sleeping buddy “Groucho the Pug”(pictured with her). If you are looking for a couch potato companion that will remind you every minute of everyday that she loves you more than anything else in the world, then Pi is the perfect girl for you.

Sebastian

September 21, 2014 @ 12:02 am posted by AbbyS
  • Male, 12 years old
  • Active senior pug!
  • Adoption fee: $100
Sebastian is a 12 year old fawn pug, but you would never know it by his energy! Although he spent a majority of his day sleeping in his crate or laying in laundry, he can be active, following you around the house, sniffing all corners, enjoying a treat, or nudging your foot to rub his face. He has lived in a family with children, and did well, but they were unable to care for him anymore due to a growing family. He hasn’t lived with other dogs, and therefore marked at first near the smell of other male dogs, but hasn’t yet since being neutered and did well with a belly band. He doesn’t snore or breathe as loud as other pugs. He isn’t a big cuddler, but enjoys sitting on the floor near you while you pet him. He is very food motivated, adjusts well to routines, and won’t wake you up in the morning to take him out. His hips bother him if he is very active – he’s wobble some the next day if you don’t help monitor the amount of activity he is doing. He can go up and down stairs, but down is harder, especially if the floors are hardwood. He skids around the house’s hardwood floors. He is very laid back, prefers to lay around inside, and is sensitive to the cold. He has the sweetest face, and is active for a senior pug!

  • Special Skill: Ability to snuggle in any situation
  • Adoption fee: $300

Hi, I’m Cruizer! I’m a 7-year old fawn neutered male.  I am such a love pug.  I love to snuggle with you and love to go on walks and hikes.  I walk on a leash very well.  I just want to be with you.  I will snuggle with you while you watch TV and I love to sleep with you at night. I lay at my foster mom’s feet while she works in her office.  I have had a few accidents in my foster home, but I think that I was just adjusting to my new surrounding because I have not had an issue since the first couple of days. I do really well with a doggie door too.  I was crated a lot in my former home, so I prefer to be free or crated for very short periods of time.  One thing I do not like is the vacuum.  It scares me, so I go outside or in another room when my foster parents vacuum.  I love to play with toys. My favorite is my big, purple octopus.  I am great with other dogs, cats, and children. I have no current health issues and do not take any medication.

Magoo

  • Male,  8 years old
  • Needs a companion or a human who is home a lot
  • Special Needs: Mostly blind
  • Special Skill: Navigating quite well while being mostly blind and possessing a bark unlike any other!
  • Adoption fee: $300

Magoo was found as a stray, so not much is known about his previous life. But, based on his condition when he arrived at the shelter, he was probably not very well taken care of. In spite all of that, Magoo is one of the sweetest pugs you’ll ever meet! He is easygoing and content to be around his foster family, including his foster fur-siblings. He’s not overly needy, but relishes any attention he receives. He would probably do best where he’s not the only pet or where he’s not left alone for significant periods of time, if he is solo. The veterinary ophthalmologist diagnosed him with retinal degeneration, which is permanent and irreversible. However, Magoo still seems to be able to see shadows and does very well navigating his surroundings. He will always come find you if you make kissy noises to call him. Magoo would love to come be loved and pampered by you…and treats are always welcome!

Ginger

  • Female, 12 years old
  • Pug mix
  • Special Needs: Deaf, cataracts in both eyes, only 3 teeth left.
  • Special Skill: Happy to share the covers!
  • Adoption fee: $100

Ginger is a Pug mix (possibly Chihuahua) and just as sweet as pie. Her two favorite things to do is going for a walk and sitting in your lap. Ginger was found as a stray in Las Vegas so we don’t know anything about her past except that she probably was part of a family because of her sweet nature and lack of fear of people. We don’t know her birth year but the vet’s thinking around 12yrs old. She is deaf, has cataracts in both eyes, and just had all her teeth pulled except for three. She can see just fine and will come to you with hand signals but she will probably be right next to you anyway unless she is taking a nap. She does great on a leash and off-leash at the dog park. Her tail goes up and she is ready to roll. She gets along great with her foster brothers and sisters and thinks the cat is just another friend to lie next to. She would do great with another furbaby or the center of your attention. She gets cold easy so she likes to burrow in the covers when she sleeps. She is potty trained but will need your help to teach her where you want her to go and when by going outside with her. Even though she is a senior, she has no problem holding her bladder all night. She is not showing any signs of arthritis but it would still be a good idea to giver her glucosamine chondroitin everyday. She will also need moisture drops in her eyes at least once per day but twice would be better. It takes a special person to adopt a senior furbaby because your time with them is going to be much shorter than most would like. Are you that special person? Ginger is a special little girl and she is waiting for her special new family.

Hi my name is Bandit and I am a one year old pug/Chihuahua mix. I am a bundle of puppy energy! I love everyone and everything. I have yet to meet a person or dog that I don’t like. I live with my foster sisters and some foster cats. I like all of them and wish they would play with me more! I am kept loose in the house while my family is at work and sleep in bed with them and the other pugs in the house every night. My foster family says that I am a fast, eager learner and that I want to please them. I am learning how to not play bite and some basic commands. I have a lot of energy so I need a family that is committed to helping me release that energy daily. Currently I go on two long walks with my foster family and sometimes I am lucky enough to go on a hike or jog on the weekends. I love that! I ride very well in the car and enjoy co-piloting with my foster mom.

I really would like to find a forever home that will release my energy and that has another dog for me to play with. I love to play! I also enjoying playing fetch, I even bring the ball back to you! After I get my energy out I love to curl up and take a nap on the couch. Please put Bandit on your application! You won’t be sorry!

Noodle

  • Female, 6 years old
  • 25 lbs
  • Housebroken, ok with a doggy door
  • Special Needs:  Blind -both eyes have been removed.
  • Adapts quickly to new surroundings.
  • Special skill: Can warm both the couch and the heart.
  • Adoption fee: $300

Noodle is as sweet as they come. She is your typical velcro pug but will sit quietly and wait for your return from wherever you went. She feels most comfortable when she can be touching you even if it is just your foot. She came to CPR intact, with severely infected eyes and ears, and in desperate need of a dental. CPR and Animal Health Care stepped up for this sweetie pie and she is no longer suffering in silence. Her eyes needed to be removed and she had 17 teeth pulled. She has been a real trooper through it all and is now happy, healthy, and free of pain. She could stand to lose a couple of pounds to get her into tip-top shape. Her blindness does not slow her down at all. She is still young and needs to have daily exercise. She does great on a leash as long as you keep her close and be her eyes for her. She also does great off-leash as long as there aren’t lots of obstacles around her. Wide open parks are best for her. She is adventurous and will venture out until she feels unsure and then she will stop and listen for you. Her capabilities are endless now that she is free of pain. She will need a family that will be cautious with her such as using gates at stairways, having rugs to help her navigate, not moving things around, and a blind-friendly yard for her to enjoy. Noodle is great with cats, dogs, and everyone she meets. Since Noodle relys on her hearing so much, a quieter home environment would be best for her so no small kiddos please. She likes to love on her foster brothers and sisters so having a companion would be nice but not critical. She also likes to snuggle with her foster cat so a feline companion would work as well. It shouldn’t take Noodle much more than a week to adjust to her new home with some help from her new family. She reacts to her name being called or clapping your hands. We hung a wind chime next to the doggie door so she could find her way back when we aren’t home but it doesn’t seem like she even needs that. She does come with a snore warning but she doesn’t rattle the windows. She loves to snuggle up next to you on the couch or at bedtime. Her transition may include a couple of potty accidents but she is housebroken. She will just need you to set her potty schedule, show her how to get outside, and be patient with her while she learns. She has only been with me for a few weeks and she has been recovering from surgeries the whole time so I am positive that this sweet bundle of pugness has many more wonderful qualities that I have not experienced yet. Put Noodle on your application today!! She will shower you and your family with unconditional love and amaze you everyday with what she can overcome.

Lucky

  • Male, 2 years old
  • Bigger than your average pugs
  • Special skill: Ridiculously sweet
  • Adoption fee: $350

For a family seeking a four- legged friend for youngsters, or a couple with an active lifestyle in need of a lap companion, or a dog owner in search of companion for a lonely buddy, Lucky may be the perfect candidate for adoption. Lucky is a young pug, slightly larger-than-average size for the breed, with an energetic personality. He’s very curious about the world and enjoys exploring. He plays wonderfully with other dogs, though his youthful exuberance is best suited for fellow rough housers. Lucky understands basic commands and is happy cuddling on the couch as he is working off the playful energy to get there. The house that welcomes Lucky will be a house filled with love, and he’ll fit in perfectly.

Chester

February 22, 2014 @ 2:49 am posted by AbbyS
  • Male, 5 years old
  • 25 lbs
  • Housebroken
  • Special Needs: seizure medication 2xday and eye drops 1xday
  • Special skill: howling when unhappy
  • Adoption fee: $300

Chester is a large, fit, very active pug.  He loves to go on long walks and still has energy to play with his toys when he gets back.  When he’s ready for a nap he is happy to join you on your lap or next to you on the couch.  He will sleep in his bed but likes to come up and snuggle in the morning.  If you like to have a bed warmer full time, I’m sure he will accommodate you.  He would like to play with another active dog but the older pug he lives with is not interested.  Chester has been crate trained and will go into his crate to nap sometimes.

Chester has a dominant personality and has a problem recognizing his pack order with small children and being too aggressive in play.  He becomes over-excited quickly when playing tug with his toys and needs to be reminded that the humans are in control.  Chester should only be placed in a home with children 10 yrs or older.  The children must be capable of understanding that his playtime needs to be structured.

Medical issues:  Chester’s foster family witnessed some odd behavior and after conferring with his veterinarian, he has been diagnosed with a psychomotor seizure disorder that manifests itself with snapping at imaginary flies and periods of growling unconsciously. Chester is now on medication that controls these episodes.  Chester also needs eye drops once a day to help with dry eyes and irritation.  While Chester loves walks, he has a condition from an old injury to his front left leg which results in dragging his front feet.  He develops an abrasion on the top of his toes that will bleed if walked on hard surfaces.  Protecting his feet with booties or wrapping them has helped.

Please give Chester a 2nd chance. Chester is a fun, loving companion and will be a wonderful addition to the right family.

Hi, the pretty little thing you see is Gidget.  I come from a family where one of the members became really ill and it was decided I come to CPR so I can get the love and attention I deserve. I am thankful to CPR for arranging a ride for me to Colorado and getting my teeth cleaned.  I also am thankful for my loving foster family.  I get along great with kids and other dogs.  I am crate-trained and house-trained.  I love to sit on your lap and sleep with you at night.  A harness is best for me to take walks with you as my neck is the same size as my head.  I do well on walks; I’m excited to see and smell new surroundings.  Thanks for taking the time to look and be sure to write Gidget on your adoption application!  I’m a sweet girl who will melt your heart.

Hi, I’m Tessa! I was dumped in a city shelter after being used for breeding over and over again, but I am the happiest pug in the world now that I am healthy and free! I’m about 7 years old, but I have the energy level of a puppy! I love to go on walks, and play with toys and other dogs. My favorite activity is cuddling. Even though I am mostly blind, I will follow my humans around the house like I have 20/20 vision until I can find a good spot on a lap. Everyone tells me that my fur feels like velvet and they love petting me. I am blind, but I don’t have the tendencies of a blind dog. I love children and don’t mind if you walk right up and hug me, it doesn’t scare me because I can hear and smell you coming. I don’t get scared by loud noises either. Once I get used to my surroundings, I have no issues running around and jumping on the furniture. I love sleeping in the middle of the bed at night and I don’t snore loud. I love other animals including dogs and cats. I am good in car rides and housebroken. My foster mommy can safely leave me alone at home because there are no stairs for me to fall down. However, I don’t like to be home alone. I will cry softly when you leave me alone by myself but I do well if there are other dogs home with me. I need eye drops on a daily basis, but I don’t mind them. I just sit there while my human puts them in and wag my tail. I have so much love to give, please give me a chance!

Odie, is a handsome and playful Pug in the prime of his life.  He is confident, energetic and beautiful.  He is in excellent health, but could stand to drop a pound or two.  He is estimated to be about five years old.  He will benefit from some structure and guidance, but is already well behaved in general  (though sometimes his enthusiasm gets the best of him).  He is potty trained and uses the doggie door.  He gets along well with cats and dogs, and even shares his food. He has not had the opportunity to be around children, but has a very pleasant disposition.  He is a rare gem in the rescue.  He came out of a hoarding situation, but is surprisingly well socialized and seems to know right from wrong.  He is a fairly big Pug; 24 pounds, but muscular.  He desperately wants a playmate; his geriatric foster-siblings are not cutting it. He is a great snuggler!

K.C.  is so sweet!  She is a 3yr old fawn female who is very well behaved.  She is house trained & she sleeps in her crate at night.  She did cringe at first when you would reach your hand out to her, but she is fine now that she knows she is not going to be hit. 🙁  She gets along very well with my other dogs.  She follows her foster family around everywhere, so she is very loyal & seems to bond quickly.  She does have some allergies, so she gets a couple of allergy pills & she needs her face and ears cleaned daily to prevent yeast infections.  The only habit that K.C. has that might be a little cumbersome, is that she is a barker-any little noise & she is all over it! She thinks she is doing her job & if you just say, “shush” she does.  🙂
