Gavin

  • Sweet dog, good with other dogs, cats, and kids
  • Adoption fee: $300

Gavin is a sweet little fellow that’s looking for a playmate and snuggle buddy. The ideal candidate would be a small dog that loves to play. Big dogs make him a little nervous at first, but he warms up to them. He loves to run and tumble around the yard. He also likes to snuggle. At night he insists on going under the blankets to cuddle with his human. He had a long time pug companion, but his buddy liked to bark (a lot) and then Gavin would join in and the two of them would go crazy. He is much calmer now that his buddy has moved on. He still wants a friend, but a calm friend would be much better for him.

He is very well behaved. He likes to go in the car, walk on a leash, and he comes when he’s called. He is potty trained, but he will mark. He goes directly into his kennel when asked. He shares toys and food with no problems. He has a lot of energy and can jump pretty high. He could probably clear our three foot fence if he wanted to, but he doesn’t try to escape. He has the softest little snout and the kindest eyes.

Gavin has one odd habit that we have been trying to modify. He gets upset when guests leave. If someone gets up to leave he starts to bark and act crazy. He runs around and is nearly impossible to catch. This is the main reason that he ended up in foster care. He scared his previous owner when he nipped at a woman that was leaving their home. For this reason, he will need to find a patient human that will work with him on his anxiety. We have found that if we pick him up and isolate him in another room, he calms down and forgets about the departing person. He doesn’t exhibit this behavior when we leave, only when guests leave. It’s very odd.

If you have a sweet pup that needs a playmate and snuggle buddy, please consider Gavin. He is a gentle soul looking for a safe and calm environment. He can melt any heart with his sweet demeanor.
