Hi! I’m Smash. I am only five years old and really hope I have a lot more years ahead of me. I came to Colorado Pug Rescue (CPR) back in October because of multiple health problems my family couldn’t deal with. My biggest problem is mast cell tumors. Since I have been with CPR, I have had two tumor removal surgeries. The bottom photo is me when I first came to CPR. The middle photo is me after my first set of tumors was removed.
After the removal of my last tumor, I had a series of 15 radiation treatments at the tumor site to prevent any more tumors from forming. I am now in the recovery phase of the treatments. Ulcers developed on the leg that was treated, and that leg had to be bandaged until the skin healed. Check out the top photo of me sporting my stylish St. Patrick’s Day bandage. The good news is that on March 25, I saw the vet again and was okayed to no longer wear a bandage! There is still the possibility of serious dry skin as a side effect, and the fur might or might not grow back on that leg. However, I am doing well and hopefully will never have another mast cell tumor.
So far, your donations have covered the cost of more than six of the treatments! That has been a big help for Colorado Pug Rescue. It isn’t too late to help out if you haven’t already. Any size donation will help pay the cost of stopping my tumors. Thank you!
